Common Law – The system of law that is widely used in England, USA, and in the most of the British Commonwealth countries. As opposed to the civil law system based on statutes and codes, common law court decisions are derived from precedents, i.e. past court decisions. Most Offshore Financial Centers have used common law as the basis for their International Business Company and trust legislation.
